Color for Facebook

Not content with uploading photos and video, Color for Facebook lets you share live content with your friends. Basically, your friends can see exactly what you're doing. It will probably appeal to certain people, but it feels a little bit like unnecessary over-share.Streaming quality isn't great either.

Facebook Messenger is here!

Android and iPhone users can now chat with their Facebook friends on the go using the new Facebook Messenger app. It's not a huge surprise to see the app, seeing as Facebook acquired Beluga, but we're sure it will be welcomed warmly. Logging in lets you view your recent Facebook chats and messages, hold chat conversations with your friends in real time and even send photos. One feature which looks interesting is the alerts; users can choose to be alerted to each new message and also choose to delay alerts when it's not convenient to receive them. This is definitely on our wishlist!

Secret Facebook app for iPad?

After Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg declared that the iPad wasn't mobile enough to deserve it's own app, it looks as though such an app has been created (and released) anyway. It was accessible to users of jailbroken devices but it looks as though Facebook have cottoned on to this now and removed access. For now, have a look at this Mashable article for screenshots and an idea of what may be in store for iPad users.

Sports fans get their very own social game

Given the massive popularity of social gaming, it's not surprising that big names have started wanting in. There have already been plenty of Zynga sponsorship deals and now ESPN have taken it one step further by releasing their own social game. ESPN Sports Bar & Grill has been developed in collaboration with Playdom and has kicked off on Facebook. The format is a familiar one - open your bar, build up your business, serve food and drink and earn upgraded items. However, this one also includes live feed of ESPN radio and simulated live sports games on your bar's big screen.

Facebook confirm Skype video calling

So after months of speculation, Facebook have finally confirmed that a Skype video calling feature is to be added to the chat client. The new chat system will work in a similar way to the most recent version, with all your chat conversations, private messages and video calls for each friend stored in one place. Video calls can be started by clicking on a new video call button which will be added to the chat window. There will also be a sidebar featuring the people you chat to most. I for one cannot wait to give it a try!
